Dangerous Liaisons (S3E14) (Part 2) - Bless this scene, because Caroline doesn’t let Klaus pull her under with his manpain. She suggests that personal tragedy and suffering aren’t Klaus-Mikaelson-exclusive concepts, and no matter how messy or horrible his experiences were, he should quit using his bad relationship with his father as a reason to hate the rest of the world.
Because if I can let go, Klaus, so can you.
And of course, Klaus is floored, because she calls him out with a smile, and ends up reading him a little deeper than he’s comfortable with.
#the diff between caroline understanding klaus’ pain and cami trying to understand klaus’ pain#is that caroline strips him of all the excuses he could possibly give to mistreat people#she doesn’t buy into his sob stories#doesn’t pity him because why should she?#you have a chance to pick yourself up again and prove yourself#and this is something that can’t come from my coaxing or pats on shoulders#you have to do it yourself#and caroline has ALWAYS had this stance with klaus#she forces him to stop wallowing in his past grievances and look to the present moment#pull yourself out of this stupid cycle of self-loathing and hatred#because fine#you have issues#but i have a prom to plan (via earmole)
